Engaging Parents/Guardians

To encourage parents/guardians to get involved in their child’s educational choices we offer CC a Parent, which allows parents/guardians to receive copies of the important emails we send to students. Students may also choose to have their parents/guardians receive registration reminders, college planning resources, and other email messages related to College Board programs. If they decide to create an account, a student can provide their parent/guardian’s first and last name and an email address.

College Board will email the parent/guardian at the email address provided by the student to confirm their choice(s). After the parent/guardian confirms, they’ll be copied on College Board emails the student signed up for, including reminders about upcoming dates and deadlines; SAT Weekend registration receipts, notifications, and admission tickets for paper and pencil testing for test day; test center alerts; and score announcements. To protect the security of a student’s College Board web account, we don’t send copies of username or password reminders to a student’s parent/guardian. If a student provides parent/guardian contact information and opts in to the Student Search Service™, their parent/guardian will also be invited to include their name and email in the information shared with approved colleges and scholarship organizations, and those organizations may contact the parent/guardian directly. Parents/guardians may opt out at any time.

If a student provides a parent/guardian email address on their CSS Profile application, their parent/guardian will receive email reminders and email notifications about CSS Profile and IDOC. Parents/guardians may opt-out of these emails at any time, including through an unsubscribe option in each email or by contacting Customer Service.
